The Leaders' first ability is the ability to listen

"You helped us foster a culture of listening" - this comes as feedback from one of my clients. Indeed, listening is the first step to empathy. It is like breathing - one cannot function without those! :)

Organizational change always starts within individual people. And one of people's deepest needs is to be heard and recognized as beautiful. For this reason leaders' first ability is the ability to listen. Listen to hear, not listen to know when they may proceed with their own agenda.
